PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Switzerland

Apr 1, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Why Europe  //  No Comments

SwitzerlandKnown for fondue and chocolate, Switzerland also has a strong Christian heritage.  A country known for embracing the reformation, they have since left those roots to pursue wealth and prosperity.  Switzerland has the highest proportion of foreign residents than any other European country – many of whom came from places where true Christianity is not know.

Dear God,

Please be with the website – GottKennen.ch (KnowingGod.net in Swiss German) – where there are huge campaigns happening to promote people going to the website to hear more about You.  Please also be with those that follow up with people that go to the website and indicate they would like to know more about You and bless the relationships that develop online from that point on.  May these relationships blossom so that in the end You are known more fully by everyone.  Please be with the peace there in Switzerland as many are on edge as many different religious are converging on the small country and are not doing so with respect to one another.  Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Sweden

Mar 31, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Why Europe  //  No Comments

SwedenSweden once could boast of having sent out the highest percentage of Christian missionaries per capita, however now it’s the most secular country in Europe.

Dear Father,

We pray for the people of Sweden as they are no longer hearing the truth about You and Your desire to be in an intimate relationship with them.  We pray that You will open their hearts and let them see You for what You really are and not the assumptions and rumors that they hear about in the culture of today’s Sweden.  We pray that You would give the people who call themselves followers of You the energy and courage to share how You have changed their lives with their friends and family in such a way that is a reflection of You.  We pray that You will raise up more people to lead Your church in Sweden so that through Your church, people can come to know You.  Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Spain

Mar 30, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Why Europe  //  No Comments

SpainWhile many in Spain claim to be Catholic, less than 30% of the population practices Catholicism and many of those do not actually believe in Jesus but do religion about of superstition or tradition.  Most in Spain claim to be atheists, post-modernist, and immigrants with other beliefs so the idea of knowing Jesus personally is barely recongizable.

Dear Father,

Today we pray for the people of Spain that they would look past the traditions and “religious” stuff to see that You want to be in an intimate relationship with each and every one of them.  Please open their hearts to see how You can change lives for the better.  We pray that the ministries that are reaching out to travelers and others will have an effective impact on revealing Your true nature and reflecting the love that You have.  Please strengthen those that do know You that they would be free to help with the needs of their neighbors and friends.  Amen.

Mar 29, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Why Europe  //  No Comments

SloveniaSlovenia was another piece of what was once Yugoslavia but is now a major European vacation spot.  About the size of New Jersey, only about 1,000 of the 2 million residents would say that they know Jesus Christ.

Dear Father,

We pray for the hearts of those in Slovenia that they would be open to know more about You.  Please be with those that do know You that they would share how You have affected their lives with their friends and neighbors.  Lord, we ask that You strengthen Your church in this country and build up leaders that will honor You in all that they do.  Amen.

SlovakiaCzechoslovakia is no more.  Now there is the Czech Republic and Slovakia.  Today we pray for Slovakia where only about 0.02% of the population would say they are followers of Jesus.

Dear Lord,

We pray for the people of Slovakia where there has been so many changes going on.  We pray that they have strength to endure the changes and that they will move in positive directions for their sakes.  We pray for the many ministries that are able to reach out to younger people through English camps and even invitations to work directly in the high schools.  Please give the proper words to say to this younger generation who is searching for their purpose in life.  Let them see that purpose in living for You.  Open their hearts and ears and speak to them through those that You have already impacted there in Slovakia.  Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Russia — San Marino

Mar 26, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Why Europe  //  No Comments

RussiaIn 988, Russian Prince Vladimir wanted to give a faith to the people of his nation so he had everyone baptized.  Now after communism and other influences, faith is the exception and not the norm.  Russia is the largest country in the world spanning 11 times zones and has more than 160 million people.

Dear Maker of All,

We are very thankful for the Gospel having come to Russia in tiny seeds spread out throughout the nation.  We ask that You nurture and grow these seeds so that they can flourish in a nation where it is becoming harder and harder to have any kind of faith in You.  We ask that You open the hearts of those seeking for a hope in something more than failing banks, governments and other organizations by showing them the hope that they can have in You.  Give strength to those that do know You personally that they would share how You have given them hope with their neighbors and friends.  Amen.

San MarinoSan Marino is the third smallest country in Europe and is located totally within Italy.  According to tradition, it is the oldest republic founded by a Christian stonemason in 301 AD.

Dear Father,

Please be with the people of San Marino that they might come to know You better.  May they have a personal encounter with You that would transform their lives.  May those that do know You to share their lives with their fellow citizens and give them the strength to express their love for You in public ways of service to their communities.  Amen.

Mar 24, 2010   //   by Courtney   //   Roes Updates, Why Europe  //  No Comments

RomaniaRomania is a mixture of old and new with medieval castles and satellite dishes.  They have survived a brutal Communist dictator to now being an independent republic.  Romania has one of the highest percentages of people who would say they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at about 6.3%.

Dear Lord,

We come to You today thanking You for all that You have done in Romania especially through groups like Hope for Romania that have planted 6 churches since 2006.  We pray that You would continue to move in the hearts of Romanians that they might come to a life changing understanding of You.  We pray that You will open the hearts of the many who are searching for meaning and that they would hear about You.  We pray for those that do know You, that they would have boldness in sharing about how You have changed their lives with their neighbors and friends.  Amen.
